Beyond The Beaches
Catch a glimpse of the rare birds soaring overhead and watch the forest come to life during a morning elephant trek through the island’s jungles. Explore the jungle atop Thailand’s most revered animal as you pass by waterfalls, lush flowers and orchids. Watch and experience the decade-long endearing relationship between the mahout and the elephant.
Gibbon Rehabilitation Project
Visit one of the most inspiring animal rescue ventures in Thailand. The Gibbon Rehabilitation Project has successfully reintroduced gibbons to the wild using progressive conservation techniques. Located by Bang Pae Waterfall, the centre sits adjacent to the gibbons’ natural habitats, where visitors can watch them manoeuvre amongst the canopies and leap on to branches up to 15 metres away.
West Sands Splash Jungle
Phuket finally had its own water park in early 2010, adding another jewel to its long list of attractions. This park covers 14,000 square metres. There are five big slides, two children's play pools with smaller slides, a wave pool and a lazy river. There is also a nice relaxing spa pool with water jets and waterfalls. It is located in the compound of the five-star West Sands Resort, next to Mai Khao Beach.
